Weather around the Quad Cities proved to be a winner as temperatures climb at or above the 60 degree mark. This preview of spring will lead to winter's last gasp with a brisk, cold rain quickly followed by a wet snow for many of our hometowns. The first sign of that change will be an increase of clouds as temperatures will be trimmed around the upper 50s. Any moisture from this system won't arrive until we head into the evening hours. Thats about the time the cold air will begin to slowly push in dropping temperatures into the 30s and holding there through Saturday. The change over to wet snow is still anticipated during the predawn hours Saturday before ending later that day. Right now, one to three inches is still likely though given how warm the ground is, patches of slush is probably the worst case scenario on our roadways. By Sunday, temperatures will remain chilly though I see enough dryness to break of few glimpse of sunshine as temperatures climb just over 40 degree. Afternoon highs will continue to climb later next week with temperatures expected right back in the 50s. Chief meteorologist James Zahara.
